Brazil traffic fines API
Bring Brazilian traffic-fine lookups into vehicle processes and regional operations.
Ask about this APIOverview
Check a vehicle’s traffic fines in Brazil across the integrated official sources by plate and RENAVAM: each state’s DETRAN and the federal bodies that publish infractions. The response keeps the issuing body, the infraction number, the amount and the status exactly as each source publishes them.
Use cases
- Review vehicles in Brazilian operations
- Prepare local fleet documentation checks
- Bring Brazilian information into regional workflows
Coverage and availability
Coverage is defined by state and integrated body; every response reports which sources were queried and which did not answer. Many Brazilian sources require plate and RENAVAM: the lookup accepts both and the response indicates which identifier each source used.
Coverage by jurisdiction

What to consider
- Plate and RENAVAM identify the vehicle at most DETRANs; without the RENAVAM some sources do not answer and the response says so.
- Descriptions come back in Portuguese as the body publishes them; translation does not alter amount, currency or status.
- A source that did not answer is distinguished from one that answered with no fines; annual licensing and other vehicle debts are not part of this lookup.
Frequently asked questions
Is the plate enough?
For some sources, yes; for most DETRANs the RENAVAM is also needed. The lookup accepts both and answers per source.
Does the API cover every state?
It covers the integrated states and bodies, which the response lists; the integration grows state by state according to each customer’s operation.
Do I need my own DETRAN credentials?
Not for the integrated public sources. When a source requires the owner’s authentication, the response says so instead of simulating a result.
