Goiás is the logistics centre of the centre-west: Goiânia and Aparecida de Goiânia, Anápolis with its agro-industrial district and dry port, BR-153 crossing the state from north to south, BR-060 towards Brasília and Mato Grosso do Sul and the municipalities surrounding the Federal District, where hundreds of thousands of people who work in the capital live. Infractions are applied by DETRAN-GO in the registry, by the municipal bodies in the cities, by the military police on state roads and by the Federal Highway Police on federal ones.

Context and authorities

Under the Brazilian Traffic Code fines have a fixed value per seriousness, add points to the licence and are paid with a discount by joining the electronic notification system; a vehicle with overdue fines gets neither the annual licensing nor the transfer. The state DETRAN concentrates those from state roads and the registry, municipalities apply those from their streets and the Federal Highway Police those from federal highways, integrated by SENATRAN.

DETRAN-GO records each infraction against the plate and the RENAVAM, notifies the owner and receives the prior defence and the appeals; Goiânia, Anápolis and Rio Verde have their own municipal bodies with cameras, and the Goiás Infrastructure Agency enforces the state roads. The Federal Highway Police acts on BR-153 and BR-060; with an overdue fine the annual licensing is not issued.

What the API returns for this jurisdiction

In Goiás a plate lookup walks the integrated sources of the Brazil fines API and returns each infraction with the body that recorded it, as the source publishes it:

  • Issuing body and infraction notice number exactly as the source publishes them.
  • Date, location and infraction code under the traffic code.
  • Value, status (citation, penalty, paid) and points when the source reports them.
  • Coverage per source and a partial-result flag when any failed to answer.

How to check a plate in Goiás

To check a plate by hand, the DETRAN-GO portal shows the infractions and the licensing status with the plate and the RENAVAM, and the Carteira Digital de Trânsito app, coordinated by SENATRAN, concentrates the notices of every body. With ten units that is enough; with a hundred, the API walks the integrated sources by plate and returns the result split by body.

What to watch if you run a fleet in Goiás

A grain fleet leaving Rio Verde or Jataí for the ports crosses the state on BR-060 and BR-153 and piles up PRF camera and overload infractions and those of the municipal bodies on trucks without a fixed driver; with the monthly plate lookup and the result filed per body, the company names the driver within the period.

For a company in the Brasília surroundings with units registered in Goiás, the monthly plate lookup separates DETRAN-DF infractions from those of Goiás and prevents a forgotten one from blocking licensing.

How to integrate

The integration starts with one POST per vehicle, with the jurisdiction as an optional filter. Since sources answer at their own pace, the API accepts the job and delivers the result by status or webhook; store the idempotency key before sending, as the asynchronous APIs guide describes. The API page details limits and fields.

Limits and considerations

  • Infractions on federal highways are recorded by the Federal Highway Police and are checked in the national channels, not at the state DETRAN.
  • Values are those of the traffic code current at the time of payment, with the applicable discount or surcharge; the final amount is set by the body.
  • A source that does not answer is reported as such, never as an absence of infractions.
  • The API neither pays fines nor files defences; it delivers information to decide.
