Coverage and availability
Coverage is defined by jurisdiction and integrated registry; every response reports which sources were queried and which did not answer. VTV is the name of the regime in Buenos Aires Province and the City; most other provinces apply RTO, and that lookup lives in the RTO API.
What to consider
- The result describes the inspection published by the registry (passed, conditional or rejected) and its validity; it does not assess the vehicle’s current mechanical condition.
- The expiry date and the inspection centre are reported when the source publishes them; a response with no record is distinguished from a source that did not answer.
- Required identifiers vary by jurisdiction: in some the plate is enough and in others the source asks for additional data, which the response indicates.
Frequently asked questions
Does this API certify that the vehicle is roadworthy?
No. It returns the inspection published by the official registry, with result and validity; the valid certificate is still the one issued by the inspection centre.
Can I use it to check RTO?
VTV and RTO are separate products by regime and by source: this API covers the jurisdictions with VTV; for the provinces with RTO you use the RTO API, with the same integration contract.
Does it work for expiry reminders?
Yes: the response carries the expiry date when the source publishes it, and a scheduled lookup per plate lets you warn before expiry and verify the renewal.
