Acre is the country’s western end: Rio Branco, the capital, on the river of the same name, Cruzeiro do Sul at the end of BR-364, still not fully paved, and BR-317 descending to Brasileia and Assis Brasil, the crossing of the Interoceanic Highway towards Peru and the Pacific, through which trucks from two countries pass. Infractions are applied by DETRAN-AC in the registry, by Rio Branco’s RBTrans in the capital, by the military police on state roads and by the Federal Highway Police on BR-364 and BR-317.

Context and authorities

Under the Brazilian Traffic Code fines have a fixed value per seriousness, add points to the licence and are paid with a discount by joining the electronic notification system; a vehicle with overdue fines gets neither the annual licensing nor the transfer. The state DETRAN concentrates those from state roads and the registry, municipalities apply those from their streets and the Federal Highway Police those from federal highways, integrated by SENATRAN.

DETRAN-AC is the registry body: it enters the infraction against the plate and the RENAVAM and processes the notice, the defence and the appeal; RBTrans enforces Rio Branco with cameras and agents, and Cruzeiro do Sul has limited traffic of its own. DERACRE enforces the state roads and the Federal Highway Police BR-364 and BR-317 towards the border; the annual licensing stays blocked while an overdue fine exists, and infractions on Peruvian and Bolivian vehicles are collected on the spot.

What the API returns for this jurisdiction

In Acre a plate lookup walks the integrated sources of the Brazil fines API and returns each infraction with the body that recorded it, as the source publishes it:

  • Issuing body and infraction notice number exactly as the source publishes them.
  • Date, location and infraction code under the traffic code.
  • Value, status (citation, penalty, paid) and points when the source reports them.
  • Coverage per source and a partial-result flag when any failed to answer.

How to check a plate in Acre

Manual verification starts at the DETRAN-AC portal, with plate and RENAVAM, and is completed in SENATRAN’s national app for infractions from other states and from federal highways. That round, repeated for every unit, is what the API replaces: one lookup per plate across the integrated sources, with the result per source.

What to watch if you run a fleet in Acre

An Interoceanic carrier crossing into Peru at Assis Brasil piles up PRF infractions on BR-317 and RBTrans ones in Rio Branco on plates passing from one driver to another; looking up each plate at month end, with the result stored per body, lets you name the driver within the period and separate Brazilian infractions from Peruvian ones.

For a Rio Branco company licensing its whole fleet in the same month, the plate lookup before the procedure finds the RBTrans infractions that would block it.

How to integrate

The integration starts with one POST per vehicle, with the jurisdiction as an optional filter. Since sources answer at their own pace, the API accepts the job and delivers the result by status or webhook; store the idempotency key before sending, as the asynchronous APIs guide describes. The API page details limits and fields.

Limits and considerations

  • Infractions on federal highways are recorded by the Federal Highway Police and are checked in the national channels, not at the state DETRAN.
  • Values are those of the traffic code current at the time of payment, with the applicable discount or surcharge; the final amount is set by the body.
  • A source that does not answer is reported as such, never as an absence of infractions.
  • The API neither pays fines nor files defences; it delivers information to decide.
