Pará is the largest northern state reachable by road: Belém and its metropolitan region with Ananindeua, BR-316 towards Maranhão, BR-230 Transamazônica and BR-155 towards Marabá and the Carajás mining, the port of Vila do Conde and the river ports of Santarém and Miritituba through which the soybeans of Mato Grosso leave. Infractions are applied by DETRAN-PA in the registry, by the municipal bodies in the cities, by the military police on state roads and by the Federal Highway Police on federal ones.
Context and authorities
The framework is the Brazilian Traffic Code, which classifies infractions as minor, medium, serious and very serious with fixed-value fines and points on the driver’s licence; the state DETRAN, the municipal traffic bodies and the Federal Highway Police on federal highways apply them, and SENATRAN integrates the national registries. An unpaid fine blocks the annual licensing and the transfer of the vehicle.
DETRAN-PA records each infraction against the plate and the RENAVAM, notifies the owner and receives the prior defence and the appeals; Belém, Ananindeua, Marabá and Santarém have their own municipal bodies with cameras, and DETRAN also enforces the state roads with the military police. The Federal Highway Police acts on BR-316, BR-230 and BR-163; with an overdue fine the annual licensing is not issued.
What the API returns for this jurisdiction
In Pará a plate, with the RENAVAM when the source requires it, is sent to the Brazil fines API, which walks its integrated sources and returns each infraction with the body that recorded it:
- The body that recorded the infraction and its number, unnormalised.
- The date and reason, with the location if the source reports it.
- The value and status current at the source.
- Which sources answered and which did not, on every lookup.
How to check a plate in Pará
Manual verification starts at the DETRAN-PA portal, with plate and RENAVAM, and is completed in SENATRAN’s national app for infractions from other states and from federal highways. That round, repeated for every unit, is what the API replaces: one lookup per plate across the integrated sources, with the result per source.
What to watch if you run a fleet in Pará
A Carajás mining or contractor fleet rotating pickups between Marabá, Parauapebas and the mines piles up PRF infractions on BR-155 and municipal-body ones on units that change crew every shift; with the monthly plate lookup and the result filed per body, the company names the driver within the period.
For a grain carrier descending to Miritituba on BR-163, the plate lookup before licensing finds the weight and camera infractions accumulated in two states that would block the procedure.
How to integrate
Each vehicle is sent in a POST, with the jurisdictions to include if you do not want to query all of them. The response accepts the job and the result is retrieved by status lookup or arrives by webhook once the sources finish answering. The vehicle lookup quality guide explains how to handle a source that did not answer.

}Limits and considerations
- Infractions on federal highways are recorded by the Federal Highway Police and are checked in the national channels, not at the state DETRAN.
- Values are those of the traffic code current at the time of payment, with the applicable discount or surcharge; the final amount is set by the body.
- A source that does not answer is reported as such, never as an absence of infractions.
- The API neither pays fines nor files defences; it delivers information to decide.
