Florencio Varela is the horticultural partido of the southern suburbs: the market gardens of the green belt, the industrial park and the neighbourhoods that grew along Provincial Route 53, Route 36 and San Martín avenue move pickups leaving before dawn for the Central Market, cargo trucks and buses towards Quilmes and La Plata. Municipal fines are issued by the partido; provincial ones coexist on the same plates.

Context and authority

The framework is the National Traffic Law 24.449, which Buenos Aires adheres to: fixed units, two-year limitation for minor offences and five for serious ones. The municipal misdemeanour court rules on fines issued within the partido; route fines and those of the provincial authority are explained in the Buenos Aires article.

The municipal misdemeanour court rules on Florencio Varela fines: red lights and right of way at the camera-equipped intersections of San Martín avenue and the crossings with Route 53, and speeding on the access avenues and the market-garden roads. A defence is filed with the court within the period set by the notice.

What the API returns for this jurisdiction

In Florencio Varela the API queries the Florencio Varela municipal misdemeanour court and, in the same lookup, the other integrated sources of Buenos Aires; it returns each fine with the authority that issued it:

  • The authority that issued the fine and its number, unnormalised.
  • The date and description of the infraction, with the location if the court reports it.
  • The amount and status current at the source, with the payment conditions it publishes.
  • The link to the payment slip when the authority offers one.
  • Which sources answered and which did not, to tell a complete result from a partial one.

Lookups with a Florencio Varela fine did not reach the publication floor of the data methodology, so we do not publish that share; the sample of fines observed is between one hundred and five hundred. The mix is the most concentrated in the suburbs: almost four out of five fines are for red lights and right of way, and the rest for speeding.

The median amount band is ARS 500,000 – ARS 1,000,000, the highest of every jurisdiction we publish, and the median age of open fines is 250 days.

100% of the fines offered voluntary payment at lookup time: every one observed. With high amounts and an available discount, every timely lookup is worth more here than in any other partido in our data.

Case study: fleets that look up plates in Florencio Varela

Distinct plates looked up by fleets

Sample: 100–500 fine records, 50.000+ lookups · See the data methodology

The fleet cohort, 50 accounts with twenty or more plates and 2,040 plates in total, had fewer than fifty lookups with a Florencio Varela fine, the floor the data methodology requires to publish a share; the figure exists, but it is not published below that threshold.

For a horticultural or delivery fleet leaving the market gardens before dawn and crossing San Martín avenue on amber lights, a Varela fine costs more than in any neighbouring partido. Looking up each plate thirty days after each month, with the result stored, assigns the fine to the driver and collects the discount before the court rules.

How to integrate

A lookup is a POST with the plate and, optionally, the jurisdictions to include; the initial response accepts the job and the result arrives by status lookup or webhook, because official sources answer in seconds or minutes. The asynchronous APIs guide explains how to retry without duplicating work and the API page details access.

  "jurisdictions": [
    "AR-B-florencio-varela"

}

For a fleet, the lookup is scheduled as a monthly batch and per event (onboarding, return, contract close); storing the per-source result next to the plate settles traceability before any dispute.

Limits and considerations

  • Fines on Route 53 and Route 36 may be provincial, not municipal; the response names the authority of each.
  • Fixed-unit amounts are converted at the value current at the source; the final amount is set by the authority at the time of payment.
  • Proprietary data comes from user lookups, not from a registry: the share of fines is skewed towards suspect plates.
  • A source that does not answer is reported as such, never as an absence of infractions.
  • The API neither pays fines nor handles defences; it delivers information to decide.
