In Entre Ríos, infractions on provincial routes are handled by the Directorate of Prevention and Road Safety, while municipal misdemeanour courts, led by Paraná and Concordia, handle those in their cities. It is a transit province: tourism heading to the hot springs, the Uruguay river beaches and the coast, and cargo traffic towards the international bridges, all cross routes with automated speed enforcement.
Context and authority
Provincial lookups are made through the Entre Ríos Government portal; large municipalities have their own systems for their fines and payment conditions. Defences are filed within five business days of notification, and voluntary-payment and discount conditions depend on each court.
Limitation periods follow the National Traffic Law 24.449: two years for minor offences and five for serious ones. On routes, fines are almost always for speeding and amounts sit in the highest bands we observe in the country.
What the API returns for this jurisdiction
The API queries the Entre Ríos provincial source by plate and returns each fine with the context a rental or transport operation needs:
- Authority, fine number and infraction date, to attribute it to the trip or the customer who had the vehicle.
- Offence description and reported amount, noting that it can vary depending on when it is paid.
- Status, due dates and voluntary payment as published.
- Downloadable payment slip when the source offers it.
- Lookup coverage and partial-result flag.
What the data shows

- 5%
- Fines offering voluntary early payment
- 72%
- Median age of fines without a recorded resolution
- 230 days
- Median amount band
- ARS 500,000 – ARS 1,000,000

Monthly distribution of fines
5% of plate lookups in the period found at least one fine in Entre Ríos. The median amount band, ARS 500,000 – ARS 1,000,000, is the highest among the provinces with enough data, and the vast majority of fines are for speeding on routes.
72% of the fines offered voluntary payment at lookup time and the median age of fines without a recorded resolution is 230 days: with amounts this size, every month of delay in detecting a fine weighs on cash flow.
January is the month with the most fines in the sample, followed by October and February: the calendar of the tourism that crosses the province.
Case study: fleets that look up plates in Entre Ríos
- Fleet lookups with at least one open fine
- 6%
- Fleet accounts in the sample
- 50
- Distinct plates looked up by fleets
- 2,040
In the fleet cohort, 50 accounts with twenty or more plates and 2,040 plates in total, 6% of the lookups found at least one Entre Ríos fine.
The case that best describes the province is a rent-a-car or a passenger-transport company with a January high season: the vehicle comes back, the customer has already paid and returned the unit, and the route speeding fine appears weeks later with a high amount and nobody to pass it on to. With the lookup integrated into each unit’s return, the fine is detected before the contract is closed or, at least, while the voluntary-payment window is still open.
Cohort aggregates, rounded and without identifiable accounts; see the data methodology.
How to integrate
The lookup is a POST with the plate; the API accepts the job immediately and the result arrives by status or webhook once the provincial source answers, which in high season can take longer than usual.

}For unit returns, launch the lookup when the contract closure starts and wait for the webhook before releasing the deposit; the asynchronous APIs guide shows how to retry without duplicating work. The API page details access.
Limits and considerations
- Coverage is provincial; Entre Ríos municipal courts are added as they are integrated.
- Reported amounts correspond to the time of the lookup and may be updated at the source.
- A source that does not respond is reported as pending, not as an absence of fines.
- Our data comes from user lookups and does not describe the Entre Ríos vehicle fleet.
- The API neither pays fines nor handles defences.
