Zacatecas is a state of passage towards the north: Highway 45 climbs from Aguascalientes to Durango and Chihuahua, Highway 49 goes from the capital to Torreón and Highway 54 crosses towards Saltillo, and on them travel trailers heading to the border and pickups from the mines of Fresnillo, the state’s most populous city. The colonial capital has narrow streets and a traffic of its own. Urban infractions are issued by the municipal transit offices of Zacatecas, Guadalupe and Fresnillo, and those on state roads by the state police; debts are collected with the state renewal.

Context and authorities

Each entity applies its own traffic regulation and its early-payment discount calendar; amounts are set in UMA and overdue debts are collected with updates and surcharges. The link with the tenencia tax, plate renewal and verification means a forgotten infraction shows up right at the procedure. The Zacatecas Government portal gathers official information.

The capital, Guadalupe and Fresnillo have their own transit offices and treasuries, with their own regulations; the state police covers the state highways and the National Guard federal Highways 45, 49 and 54. The state finance secretariat adds vehicle debts to the annual renewal, and infractions on units from other states are notified to the owner’s address, which may be a thousand kilometres away.

What the API returns for this entity

In Zacatecas a plate is sent to the Mexico fines API, which walks its integrated sources and returns each infraction with the authority that recorded it:

  • The authority that recorded the infraction and its folio, unnormalised.
  • The date and reason, with the location if the source reports it.
  • The amount and status current at the source, with the discounts it publishes.
  • The payment reference when the authority offers one.
  • Which sources answered and which did not, to tell a complete result from a partial one.

How to check a plate in Zacatecas

Manual verification starts at the Zacatecas Government portal and is completed with the citizen lookup of the REPUVE, which confirms plate, serial number and theft report. That round, repeated for every unit, is what the API replaces: one lookup per plate across the integrated sources, with the result per source so you know what was verified.

What to watch if you run a fleet in Zacatecas

A mining fleet rotating pickups between Fresnillo, the capital and the semi-desert projects piles up state infractions on long highways and municipal ones in the cities, on units that change crew every week; looking up each plate at month end, with the result stored per authority, lets you assign them while the project log exists.

For a Bajío carrier crossing Zacatecas towards the border, the monthly plate lookup finds the infractions in passing before the notice reaches the base and the discount expires.

How to integrate

The integration starts with one POST per plate, with the entity as an optional filter. Since sources answer at their own pace, the API accepts the job and delivers the result by status or webhook; store the idempotency key before sending, as the asynchronous APIs guide describes. The API page details access.

Limits and considerations

  • Infractions on federal highways are issued by the National Guard and paid separately from state debts.
  • UMA amounts are updated every year; the final amount is set by the authority at the time of payment.
  • A source that does not answer is reported as such, never as an absence of infractions.
  • The API neither pays fines nor handles clarifications; it delivers information to decide.
