The State of Mexico surrounds the capital and holds the country’s most populous municipalities: Ecatepec, Nezahualcóyotl, Naucalpan, Tlalnepantla and the Toluca valley, linked by state roads with camera fines, the Circuito Exterior Mexiquense and the concession motorways. The State of Mexico Traffic Regulation governs infractions, and the annual plate renewal and verification require having no debts.
Context and authorities
Each entity applies its own traffic regulation and its early-payment discount calendar; amounts are set in UMA and overdue debts are collected with updates and surcharges. The link with the tenencia tax, plate renewal and verification means a forgotten infraction shows up right at the procedure. The State of Mexico Secretaría de Finanzas payments and procedures portal gathers official information.
The Secretaría de Finanzas publishes and collects infraction debts by plate; the Secretaría de Seguridad and the municipalities issue infractions on the road, and camera fines on state roads are served at the registered owner’s address. Clarifications are filed with the authority that recorded the infraction, within the period set by the notice.
What the API returns for this entity
In the State of Mexico the API queries the infraction lookup of the State of Mexico’s Secretaría de Finanzas and returns each infraction with the authority that recorded it:
- Authority and infraction folio exactly as the source publishes them.
- Date, location when reported and reason for the sanction.
- Amount, status and current discounts published by that authority.
- Payment line or reference when the source offers one.
- Coverage per source and partial-result flag.
How to check a plate in the State of Mexico
A plate is checked by hand at the State of Mexico Secretaría de Finanzas payments and procedures portal and, for the vehicle’s identity, at the REPUVE. The API does the same round at scale and returns each infraction with the authority that recorded it, so verification becomes part of the fleet process rather than a spreadsheet.
What to watch if you run a fleet in the State of Mexico
A fleet crossing every day from the Valley of Mexico to the Toluca valley travels state roads with camera fines and municipalities with their own regulations; looking up each plate at month end, with the per-source result stored, assigns each infraction to the driver and avoids discovering them at plate renewal.
For a cargo company with units registered in the state, the annual plate renewal and verification are blocked by pending debts; a plate lookup before each procedure avoids rejections and uses the early-payment discounts.
How to integrate
The integration starts with one POST per plate, with the entity as an optional filter. Since sources answer at their own pace, the API accepts the job and delivers the result by status or webhook; store the idempotency key before sending, as the asynchronous APIs guide describes. The API page details access.

}Limits and considerations
- Infractions on concession motorways and in municipalities with their own regulation may be recorded in different sources; the response names the authority of each.
- UMA amounts are updated every year; the final amount is set by the authority at the time of payment.
- A source that does not answer is reported as such, never as an absence of infractions.
- The API neither pays fines nor handles clarifications; it delivers information to decide.
