In Córdoba the Policía Caminera issues fines on provincial routes, motorways and roads, which are ruled on by the provincial police traffic court; offences within urban boundaries belong to each municipality’s misdemeanour court, starting with the capital. Lookups and payments of provincial fines are centralised on a portal open around the clock, and the early-payment discount depends on the severity of the offence.
Context and authority
The provincial traffic portal lets you enter the plate, generate the payment slip or pay by card. Defences are filed within five business days before the police traffic court, and limitation periods follow the National Traffic Law 24.449: two years for minor offences and five for serious ones.
Córdoba applies the points system firmly: a relevant share of fines deducts licence points, and documentation offences, such as driving without valid insurance, without a technical inspection or with an expired licence, are frequent at route checkpoints. For a company, that turns each fine into information about the driver’s fitness to drive, not only into a cost.
What the API returns for this jurisdiction
The API queries the Policía Caminera provincial source and the misdemeanour court of the city of Córdoba, and returns each fine with the fields a fleet department needs to assign responsibility:
- Authority, fine number and exact infraction date, to match the driver assigned that day.
- Description or category, distinguishing speeding from documentation offences.
- Licence points to be deducted when the source reports them.
- Amount, status and published early-payment conditions.
- Coverage per source and partial-result flag.

Share by authority
6% of plate lookups in the period found at least one fine in Córdoba, and 25% of the fines deducted licence points: the highest share among the provinces with enough data. The Policía Caminera accounts for the large majority of observed fines; the city of Córdoba, the rest.
Unlike other provinces, the main category is not speeding but documentation: driving without insurance, without a technical inspection or without a valid licence. The median amount band is ARS 100,000 – ARS 250,000, 45% of the fines offered voluntary payment and the median age without a recorded resolution is 220 days.
October, November and June are the months with the most fines in the sample; the pattern follows route operations before the winter and summer holidays.
Case study: fleets that look up plates in Córdoba
- Fleet lookups with at least one open fine
- 7%
- Fleet accounts in the sample
- 50
- Distinct plates looked up by fleets
- 2,040
In the fleet cohort, 50 accounts with twenty or more plates and 2,040 plates in total, 7% of the lookups found at least one Córdoba fine.
The relevant case is companies that assign vehicles to their own drivers: distributors, field-service teams, sales on the road. A documentation fine or one with deducted points at a Caminera checkpoint is a warning about the driver’s file, and discovering it months later, when renewing the fleet insurance, no longer allows anything to be corrected. Looking up the plate at each month-end and matching the fine date with the assigned driver turns the fine into a people-management event, with the points deduction and the due date in view.
Cohort aggregates, rounded and without identifiable accounts; see the data methodology.
How to integrate
Each lookup is a POST with the plate; the API accepts the job immediately and delivers the result by status or webhook with the fines from each source, including points and the exact date for matching against the driver.

}Before automating internal sanctions, review the guide on vehicle lookup quality: a fine with the right date and driver is evidence; a partial result is not. The API page details access.
Limits and considerations
- Municipal coverage is currently limited to the city of Córdoba; Villa María, Río Tercero and the rest remain out until integrated.
- Deducted points are reported only when the source publishes them; the API does not compute the licence balance.
- The early-payment discount is set by the authority according to severity; the API shows the published conditions.
- The sample comes from user lookups and does not represent Córdoba’s vehicle fleet.
- The API neither pays fines nor handles defences before the court.
