Infractions are applied by DETRAN-SE in the registry, by Aracaju’s SMTT and the municipal bodies in the cities, by the military police on state roads and by the Federal Highway Police on BR-101. ## Context and authorities Infractions are governed by the [Brazilian Traffic Code](https://www.planalto.gov.br/ccivil_03/leis/l9503compilado.htm): each has a fixed value, a seriousness and a number of points recorded on the licence of the identified driver, and they are notified in two stages, the citation and the penalty, with periods for the prior defence and the appeal. The state DETRAN, municipalities with municipalised traffic and the Federal Highway Police apply them; [SENATRAN](https://www.gov.br/transportes/pt-br/assuntos/transito/senatran) coordinates the national systems. DETRAN-SE records each infraction against the plate and the RENAVAM, notifies the owner and receives the prior defence and the appeals; SMTT enforces Aracaju with cameras and agents, and Nossa Senhora do Socorro and Itabaiana have their own municipal bodies. The response reports which sources were queried and which answered; for Sergipe, the official channel is the DETRAN portal described below, and a result with no infractions in the integrated sources does not rule out records there or at the Federal Highway Police. ## How to check a plate in Sergipe To check a plate by hand, the [DETRAN-SE portal](https://www.detran.se.gov.br/) shows the infractions and the licensing status with the plate and the RENAVAM, and the Carteira Digital de Trânsito app, coordinated by [SENATRAN](https://www.gov.br/transportes/pt-br/assuntos/transito/senatran), concentrates the notices of every body. With ten units that is enough; with a hundred, the API walks the integrated sources by plate and returns the result split by body. ## What to watch if you run a fleet in Sergipe A carrier crossing Sergipe on BR-101 between Salvador and Recife several times a week piles up PRF camera infractions on trucks without a fixed driver, and the notice reaches the base in another state; looking up each plate at month end, with the result stored per body, lets you name the driver within the period. For an oil contractor company based in Aracaju, the plate lookup before licensing finds the SMTT and DER infractions that would block the procedure for the whole fleet. ## How to integrate A lookup is a POST with the identifier and, optionally, the jurisdictions to include; the initial response accepts the job and the result arrives by status lookup or webhook, because official sources answer in seconds or minutes.
