# Traffic fines in Santa Rosa (La Pampa): authorities, deadlines and API lookups

Santa Rosa is the capital of La Pampa and the junction of National Route 5, arriving from Buenos Aires, with Route 35, continuing south: trucks heading to Patagonia go around the city on the ring road, while Luro, Spinetto and Perón avenues concentrate urban traffic, with the Don Tomás lagoon and the downtown commercial area. Municipal fines are issued by the city; route and provincial fines coexist on the same plates.

Amounts and deadlines follow the [National Traffic Law 24.449](https://www.argentina.gob.ar/normativa/nacional/ley-24449-818/texto) and La Pampa’s adhesion: fixed units, a two-year limitation for minor offences and five for serious ones, a defence before the authority that issued the fine. The municipal misdemeanour court rules on fines issued within the city: speeding and red lights on the camera avenues, parking downtown and lanes and manoeuvres at the approaches from the routes. A defence is filed with the court within the period set by the notice; fines on the ring road and on Routes 5 and 35 are not municipal.

## Limits and considerations

-   Fines on national and provincial routes outside the town limits are not municipal; the response names the authority of each.
-   Fixed-unit amounts are converted at the value current at the source; the final amount is set by the authority at the time of payment.
-   A source that does not answer is reported as such, never as an absence of infractions.
-   The API neither pays fines nor handles defences; it delivers information to decide.
