# Traffic fines in San Miguel (Buenos Aires): authorities, deadlines and API lookups

How traffic fines work in San Miguel, from Route 8 and Presidente Perón avenue to the Camino del Buen Ayre, and how a fleet queries them by plate with the API.

Jurisdiction

San Miguel (Buenos Aires) · [Buenos Aires](https://apinitro.com/en/articles/traffic-fines-buenos-aires-province/) · Argentina

San Miguel is a transit partido towards the north-west of the suburbs: Route 8 and Presidente Perón avenue cross it from Muñiz to Bella Vista, Route 23 connects it with Moreno and the Camino del Buen Ayre borders it next to Campo de Mayo, with a dense commercial centre and traffic of buses, deliveries and cargo transport towards Pilar and Luján. Municipal fines are issued by the partido on avenues and camera-equipped traffic lights; provincial ones coexist on the same plates.

## Context and authority

Like every partido in Buenos Aires, it applies the [National Traffic Law 24.449](https://www.argentina.gob.ar/normativa/nacional/ley-24449-818/texto) through the provincial adhesion: fixed-unit amounts, a two-year limitation for minor offences and five for serious ones, and a defence before the court that issued the fine. Provincial fines are covered in the [Buenos Aires article](https://apinitro.com/en/articles/traffic-fines-buenos-aires-province/).

The municipal misdemeanour court rules on fines issued within the partido: speeding and red lights on Presidente Perón avenue, on Route 8 within the town limits and at camera-equipped crossings, lanes and manoeuvres at the station approaches and parking in downtown San Miguel. A defence is filed with the court within the period set by the notice; Camino del Buen Ayre fines are not municipal.

## What the API returns for this jurisdiction

In San Miguel the API queries the San Miguel municipal misdemeanour court and, in the same lookup, the other integrated sources of Buenos Aires; it returns each fine with the authority that issued it:

- Authority and fine number exactly as each court publishes them.
- Date, location when reported and description of the infraction.
- Amount, status and payment conditions published by that court.
- Downloadable payment slip when one exists.
- Coverage per source and partial-result flag.

The response splits the result by source: the San Miguel court and the provincial sources answer separately, and the partial-result flag shows whether any failed to answer.

## How to check a plate in San Miguel

Manual verification starts at the [San Miguel municipal portal](https://www.msm.gov.ar/), continues through the provincial circuit of the [Buenos Aires article](https://apinitro.com/en/articles/traffic-fines-buenos-aires-province/) and ends at the [ANSV national lookup](https://consultainfracciones.seguridadvial.gob.ar/). That round, repeated for every plate, is what the API replaces: one lookup per plate across the integrated sources, with the result per source so you know what was verified.

## What to watch if you run a fleet in San Miguel

A cargo carrier going from the City to Pilar along Route 8 crosses San Miguel with speed and red-light cameras on every trip; the fine reaches the owner’s address weeks later. Looking up each plate at month end, with the per-source result stored, assigns each fine to the driver and covers the defence in time.

For a delivery fleet based in San Miguel that also works José C. Paz, Malvinas Argentinas and Hurlingham, the same lookup returns each court’s fines separately; reading it per source avoids closing a month with a court that publishes late.

## How to integrate

A lookup is a POST with the plate and, optionally, the jurisdictions to include; the initial response accepts the job and the result arrives by status lookup or webhook, because official sources answer in seconds or minutes. The [asynchronous APIs](https://apinitro.com/en/articles/asynchronous-api-retries-without-duplicate-work/) guide explains how to retry without duplicating work and the [API page](https://apinitro.com/en/apis/traffic-fines-argentina/) details access.

JSONIllustrative example, not a contract.

```json
{
  "plate": "ABC123",
  "jurisdictions": [
    "AR-B-san-miguel-buenos-aires"
  ]
}
```

## Limits and considerations

- Fines on Route 8 outside the town limits and on the Camino del Buen Ayre may be provincial or national, not municipal; the response names the authority of each.
- Fixed-unit amounts are converted at the value current at the source; the final amount is set by the authority at the time of payment.
- A source that does not answer is reported as such, never as an absence of infractions.
- The API neither pays fines nor handles defences; it delivers information to decide.
