# Traffic fines in Posadas: authorities, deadlines and API lookups

How traffic fines work in Posadas, from Uruguay avenue and the waterfront to the San Roque González bridge, and how a border fleet queries them by plate with the API.

Posadas is the capital of Misiones and a border city: the waterfront on the Paraná, Uruguay, Quaranta and Mitre avenues and National Route 12 concentrate a traffic of motorcycles, Paraguayan cars crossing the San Roque González bridge and trucks of yerba mate, timber and tea heading south. Municipal fines are issued by the city; route fines are issued by the province and coexist on the same plates.

## Context and authority

Like every municipality in Misiones, it applies the [National Traffic Law 24.449](https://www.argentina.gob.ar/normativa/nacional/ley-24449-818/texto) through the provincial adhesion: fixed-unit amounts, a two-year limitation for minor offences and five for serious ones, and a defence before the court that issued the fine. The municipal misdemeanour court rules on fines issued within the city: helmets, seat belts and documents at municipal checks, speeding and red lights on the camera avenues, and parking downtown and on the waterfront. A defence is filed with the court within the period set by the notice; fines on Route 12 and at the bridge approach are not municipal.

## What the API returns for this jurisdiction

A plate lookup in Posadas walks the Posadas municipal misdemeanour court together with the integrated provincial sources of Misiones, and returns each fine with the authority that issued it:

-   Authority and fine number exactly as each court publishes them.
-   Date, location when reported and description of the infraction.
-   Amount, status and payment conditions published by that court.
-   Downloadable payment slip when one exists.
-   Coverage per source and partial-result flag.

A result with no fines at the municipal court does not rule out provincial fines on the same plate; the response reports which sources were queried and which answered.

## How to check a plate in Posadas

To check a plate by hand there are three places: the [Posadas municipal portal](https://posadas.gob.ar/) for municipal fines, the provincial circuit described in the [Misiones article](https://apinitro.com/en/articles/traffic-fines-misiones/) and the [ANSV national lookup](https://consultainfracciones.seguridadvial.gob.ar/) for fines loaded into the national system. With ten vehicles that is enough; with a hundred, the API walks every integrated source by plate and returns the result split by authority.

## What to watch if you run a fleet in Posadas

A yerba mate or timber truck coming down from inland Misiones and leaving along Route 12 crosses Posadas’s camera-equipped access roads on every trip; the fine reaches the owner’s address weeks later. Looking up each plate at month end, with the per-source result stored, assigns the fine to the driver and covers the defence in time.

For a motorcycle delivery company or an urban service fleet, helmet and document fines fall on the rider; a monthly plate lookup, with the result stored, lets you deduct them from the right person before they pile up on the company’s plate.

## How to integrate

The integration starts with one POST per plate, with the jurisdiction as an optional filter. ## Limits and considerations

-   Fines on national and provincial routes outside the town limits are not municipal; the response names the authority of each.
-   Fixed-unit amounts are converted at the value current at the source; the final amount is set by the authority at the time of payment.
-   A source that does not answer is reported as such, never as an absence of infractions.
-   The API neither pays fines nor handles defences; it delivers information to decide.
