Jurisdiction

Pilar (Buenos Aires) · [Buenos Aires](https://apinitro.com/en/articles/traffic-fines-buenos-aires-province/) · Argentina

Pilar grew around the Pilar branch of the Panamericana: gated communities, shopping centres, schools and one of the largest industrial parks in the country coexist with the historic core and with localities such as Del Viso, Manzanares and Fátima, crossed by Route 8 and Route 25. The result is a flow of service pickups, distribution trucks, rental cars and company vehicles registered in other partidos, which receive their fines weeks later. Municipal fines are issued by the partido; those on the Panamericana and the routes depend on the province.

## Context and authority

Like every partido in Buenos Aires, it applies the [National Traffic Law 24.449](https://www.argentina.gob.ar/normativa/nacional/ley-24449-818/texto) through the provincial adhesion: fixed-unit amounts, a two-year limitation for minor offences and five for serious ones, and a defence before the court that issued the fine. Provincial fines are covered in the [Buenos Aires article](https://apinitro.com/en/articles/traffic-fines-buenos-aires-province/).

The municipal misdemeanour court rules on fines issued on the partido’s streets and avenues: speeding and red lights on the approaches to the gated communities and the industrial park, parking in downtown Pilar and document and load checks at municipal operations. A defence is filed with the court within the period set by the notice. Fines on the Pilar branch, Route 8 and Route 25 are provincial and are checked through the province’s circuit.

## What the API returns for this jurisdiction

In Pilar the API queries InfraccionesBA, the provincial registry of the Buenos Aires Ministry of Transport together with the other integrated sources of Buenos Aires and returns each fine with the authority that issued it:

- Authority and fine number exactly as each court publishes them.
- Date, location when reported and description of the infraction.
- Amount, status and payment conditions published by that court.
- Downloadable payment slip when one exists.
- Coverage per source and partial-result flag.

The response splits the result by source and the partial-result flag shows whether any failed to answer; municipal fines in Pilar have their own lookup channel, described below.

## How to check a plate in Pilar

To check a plate by hand there are three places: the [Pilar Municipality portal](https://www.pilar.gob.ar/) for municipal fines, the provincial circuit described in the [Buenos Aires article](https://apinitro.com/en/articles/traffic-fines-buenos-aires-province/) and the [ANSV national lookup](https://consultainfracciones.seguridadvial.gob.ar/) for fines loaded into the national system. With ten vehicles that is enough; with a hundred, the API walks every integrated source by plate and returns the result split by authority.

## What to watch if you run a fleet in Pilar

Distribution fleets leaving the industrial park and the maintenance pickups of the gated communities travel the branch and Route 8 several times a day, and provincial speeding fines pile up on plates registered in Buenos Aires City or San Isidro. Looking up each plate at month end, with the result stored per source, lets you charge the fine to the driver of that shift before the notice reaches the owner’s address.

For a rent-a-car based in Pilar, the plate lookup at the return of each rental is the difference between charging the fine to the customer who was driving and absorbing it months later, once the discount has expired.

## How to integrate

Each plate is sent in a POST, with the jurisdictions to include if you do not want to query all of them. The response accepts the job and the result is retrieved by status lookup or arrives by webhook once the sources finish answering. The [vehicle lookup quality](https://apinitro.com/en/articles/vehicle-data-quality/) guide explains how to handle partial results and the [API page](https://apinitro.com/en/apis/traffic-fines-argentina/) details access.

JSONIllustrative example, not a contract.

```json
{
  "plate": "ABC123",
  "jurisdictions": [
    "AR-B"
  ]
}
```

## Limits and considerations

- Provincial fines on a plate originate on routes and motorways across the whole province, not only in the partido; the response names the authority and the location when the source reports it.
- Fixed-unit amounts are converted at the value current at the source; the final amount is set by the authority at the time of payment.
- A source that does not answer is reported as such, never as an absence of infractions.
- The API neither pays fines nor handles defences; it delivers information to decide.
