The state runs vehicle control, and plate renewal requires having no debts. ## Context and authorities As in the rest of the country, traffic fines are administrative sanctions set in UMA by the state regulation, with a discount for timely payment in many entities and surcharges once overdue; pending debts block vehicle procedures. For local procedures and rules, the starting point is the [Nuevo León Government portal](https://www.nl.gob.mx/). Each metropolitan municipality issues and collects its infractions under its own regulation; the state’s Instituto de Control Vehicular runs plates, renewal and vehicle debts, and the Secretaría de Finanzas collects state fines. Clarifications are filed with the authority that recorded the infraction, within the period set by the notice. ## What the API returns for this entity A plate lookup in Nuevo León walks Nuevo León’s state plate lookup for infractions and returns each infraction with the authority that recorded it: - Authority and infraction folio exactly as the source publishes them. - Date, location when reported and reason for the sanction. - Amount, status and current discounts published by that authority. - Payment line or reference when the source offers one. - Coverage per source and partial-result flag. A result with no infractions from the Nuevo León source does not rule out debts in another entity or on federal roads; the response reports which sources were queried and which answered. ## How to check a plate in Nuevo León Manual verification starts at the [Nuevo León Government portal](https://www.nl.gob.mx/) and is completed with the citizen lookup of the [REPUVE](https://www.gob.mx/sesnsp), which confirms plate, serial number and theft report. That round, repeated for every unit, is what the API replaces: one lookup per plate across the integrated sources, with the result per source so you know what was verified. ## What to watch if you run a fleet in Nuevo León A delivery or staff transport fleet crossing Monterrey, San Nicolás and Apodaca in a single day answers to three regulations and three different treasuries; looking up each plate at month end, with the per-source result stored, assigns each infraction to the driver and avoids discovering them at plate renewal. For an export company with tractor-trailers heading to Laredo, infractions on the highways and in the municipalities along the way pile up on plates that rotate among operators; a plate lookup before each renewal and at month end covers clarifications in time. ## How to integrate Each plate is sent in a POST, with the entities to include if you do not want to query all of them.
