# Traffic fines in Moreno: authorities, deadlines and API lookups

How traffic fines work in Moreno, between the Sarmiento terminal, the Western Access and the provincial routes, and how a fleet queries them by plate with the API.

Jurisdiction

Moreno (Buenos Aires) · [Buenos Aires](https://apinitro.com/en/articles/traffic-fines-buenos-aires-province/) · Argentina

Moreno is the head of the Sarmiento railway and a hub of the west: the Western Access crosses it towards Luján, Route 23 climbs to Pilar, Route 24 descends to La Matanza and Route 25 connects it with Escobar, with the Reconquista river and its dam as a natural boundary. Distribution trucks, buses, chauffeur cars, school transport and works pickups pass through the partido on that crossing without being registered in it. Urban fines are issued by the Municipality; those on the routes and the Access depend on the province.

## Context and authority

Amounts and deadlines follow the [National Traffic Law 24.449](https://www.argentina.gob.ar/normativa/nacional/ley-24449-818/texto) and Buenos Aires’s adhesion: fixed units, a two-year limitation for minor offences and five for serious ones, a defence before the authority that issued the fine. This article covers municipal fines; the provincial circuit is in the [Buenos Aires article](https://apinitro.com/en/articles/traffic-fines-buenos-aires-province/).

The municipal misdemeanour court rules on fines issued within the town limits: speeding and red lights on Victorica, Libertador and Bartolomé Mitre avenues, parking around the station and the bus terminal, and document checks at municipal operations. A defence is filed with the court within the period set by the notice. Fines on the Western Access and on routes 23, 24 and 25 outside the town limits are provincial.

## What the API returns for this jurisdiction

In Moreno the API queries InfraccionesBA, the provincial registry of the Buenos Aires Ministry of Transport together with the other integrated sources of Buenos Aires and returns each fine with the authority that issued it:

- The authority that issued the fine and its number, unnormalised.
- The date and description of the infraction, with the location if the court reports it.
- The amount and status current at the source, with the payment conditions it publishes.
- The link to the payment slip when the authority offers one.
- Which sources answered and which did not, to tell a complete result from a partial one.

The response splits the result by source and the partial-result flag shows whether any failed to answer; municipal fines in Moreno have their own lookup channel, described below.

## How to check a plate in Moreno

A plate is checked by hand at the [Moreno Municipality portal](https://www.moreno.gob.ar/), in the provincial sources explained in the [Buenos Aires article](https://apinitro.com/en/articles/traffic-fines-buenos-aires-province/) and at the [ANSV national lookup](https://consultainfracciones.seguridadvial.gob.ar/). The API does the same round at scale and returns each fine with the authority that issued it, so verification becomes part of the process rather than a spreadsheet.

## What to watch if you run a fleet in Moreno

A distribution fleet crossing Moreno on the Western Access and the provincial routes piles up speeding fines on plates registered in another partido, and the notice reaches the owner’s address weeks after the trip. Looking up each plate at month end and storing the result per source lets you assign the fine to the driver while the route record exists.

For a school transport or line bus company based in Moreno, the plate lookup before each licence renewal prevents a forgotten fine from blocking the procedure; the response names the authority of each fine and whether any source failed to answer.

## How to integrate

Each plate is sent in a POST, with the jurisdictions to include if you do not want to query all of them. The response accepts the job and the result is retrieved by status lookup or arrives by webhook once the sources finish answering. The [vehicle lookup quality](https://apinitro.com/en/articles/vehicle-data-quality/) guide explains how to handle partial results and the [API page](https://apinitro.com/en/apis/traffic-fines-argentina/) details access.

JSONIllustrative example, not a contract.

```json
{
  "plate": "ABC123",
  "jurisdictions": [
    "AR-B"
  ]
}
```

## Limits and considerations

- Provincial fines on a plate originate on routes and motorways across the whole province, not only in the partido; the response names the authority and the location when the source reports it.
- Fixed-unit amounts are converted at the value current at the source; the final amount is set by the authority at the time of payment.
- A source that does not answer is reported as such, never as an absence of infractions.
- The API neither pays fines nor handles defences; it delivers information to decide.
