A good share of the vehicles circulating in the state carry plates from the capital and the State of Mexico. Urban infractions are issued by the municipal transit offices of Cuernavaca, Jiutepec and Cuautla, and those on state roads by the state police; debts are collected with the state renewal. ## Context and authorities Each entity applies its own traffic regulation and its early-payment discount calendar; amounts are set in UMA and overdue debts are collected with updates and surcharges. The link with the tenencia tax, plate renewal and verification means a forgotten infraction shows up right at the procedure. The state mobility and transport secretariat regulates transport and the state police issues infractions on state highways; Cuernavaca and the conurbated municipalities have their own transit office and treasury.
