# Traffic fines in Mar del Plata (General Pueyrredón): authorities, deadlines and API lookups

How traffic fines work in Mar del Plata, from Route 2 to the waterfront and the port, and how a rent-a-car or a fleet queries them by plate with the API.

Jurisdiction

Mar del Plata · [Buenos Aires](https://apinitro.com/en/articles/traffic-fines-buenos-aires-province/) · Argentina

General Pueyrredón is Mar del Plata: the country’s largest seaside city, with Route 2 and Route 226 as its approaches, the waterfront and Constitución, Luro and Independencia avenues as its corridors, the fishing port and a population that multiplies between December and March with plates from all over the country. Municipal fines are issued by the partido; route and provincial fines coexist on the same plates.

## Context and authority

The partido adheres to the [National Traffic Law 24.449](https://www.argentina.gob.ar/normativa/nacional/ley-24449-818/texto) through the provincial law: fines are expressed in fixed units and lapse after two years if minor and five if serious. Municipal fines are ruled on by the partido’s misdemeanour court; those issued by the province follow their own circuit, described in the [Buenos Aires article](https://apinitro.com/en/articles/traffic-fines-buenos-aires-province/).

The Municipal Misdemeanour Court rules on fines issued within the partido: metered and prohibited parking downtown and on the coast, speeding on the camera avenues and the waterfront, red lights at camera-equipped crossings and lanes at the access roads. A defence is filed with the court within the period set by the notice; Route 2 and Route 226 fines are not municipal.

## What the API returns for this jurisdiction

In Mar del Plata the API queries the General Pueyrredón (Mar del Plata) Municipal Misdemeanour Court and, in the same lookup, the other integrated sources of Buenos Aires; it returns each fine with the authority that issued it:

- The authority that issued the fine and its number, unnormalised.
- The date and description of the infraction, with the location if the court reports it.
- The amount and status current at the source, with the payment conditions it publishes.
- The link to the payment slip when the authority offers one.
- Which sources answered and which did not, to tell a complete result from a partial one.

The response splits the result by source: the Mar del Plata court and the provincial sources answer separately, and the partial-result flag shows whether any failed to answer.

## How to check a plate in Mar del Plata

Manual verification starts at the [General Pueyrredón municipal portal](https://www.mardelplata.gob.ar/), continues through the provincial circuit of the [Buenos Aires article](https://apinitro.com/en/articles/traffic-fines-buenos-aires-province/) and ends at the [ANSV national lookup](https://consultainfracciones.seguridadvial.gob.ar/). That round, repeated for every plate, is what the API replaces: one lookup per plate across the integrated sources, with the result per source so you know what was verified.

## What to watch if you run a fleet in Mar del Plata

For a rent-a-car or a transfer company working the season, a Mar del Plata fine is issued in January on a plate that by March is already in another province; checking the plate at the return of each rental, with the result stored, charges the fine to the customer who was driving and pays with a discount.

A distribution fleet supplying the coast in summer concentrates its parking and speeding fines in a few weeks; looking up each plate at the close of the season and thirty days later, with the per-source result stored, assigns each fine to the driver and covers the defence in time.

## How to integrate

Each plate is sent in a POST, with the jurisdictions to include if you do not want to query all of them. The response accepts the job and the result is retrieved by status lookup or arrives by webhook once the sources finish answering. The [vehicle lookup quality](https://apinitro.com/en/articles/vehicle-data-quality/) guide explains how to handle partial results and the [API page](https://apinitro.com/en/apis/traffic-fines-argentina/) details access.

JSONIllustrative example, not a contract.

```json
{
  "plate": "ABC123",
  "jurisdictions": [
    "AR-B-general-pueyrredon"
  ]
}
```

## Limits and considerations

- Fines on Route 2, Route 226 and Route 88 are provincial or the concessionaire’s, not municipal; the response names the authority of each.
- Fixed-unit amounts are converted at the value current at the source; the final amount is set by the authority at the time of payment.
- A source that does not answer is reported as such, never as an absence of infractions.
- The API neither pays fines nor handles defences; it delivers information to decide.
