# Traffic fines in La Pampa: authorities, deadlines and API lookups

How traffic fines work in La Pampa, from Santa Rosa to the urban stretches of Routes 35 and 152, and how a carrier queries them by plate with the API.

La Pampa is a mandatory crossing between Buenos Aires and Patagonia: National Route 5 towards Santa Rosa, Route 35 southwards and Route 152 towards Neuquén and Río Negro concentrate cargo trucks and tourist vehicles that cross the province without stopping, with speed checks at the entrances to towns. Urban infractions are ruled on by municipal misdemeanour courts, led by Santa Rosa and General Pico; route infractions depend on the provincial road-safety authority.

## Context and authorities

The province adheres to the [National Traffic Law 24.449](https://www.argentina.gob.ar/normativa/nacional/ley-24449-818/texto), so amounts are expressed in fixed units and the limitation period is two years for minor offences and five for serious ones. The [La Pampa Government portal](https://www.lapampa.gob.ar/) publishes institutional information.

Santa Rosa and General Pico rule on their urban fines in municipal misdemeanour courts, with speed cameras at the entrances and on the ring avenues; the municipalities along Route 5 and Route 35, from Realicó to General Acha, have their own courts that mostly issue speeding fines on the urban stretches. On the routes, fines are issued by the provincial road-safety authority and ruled on according to the jurisdiction of the checkpoint. A defence is filed with the authority that issued the fine, within the period set by the notice.

## How to check a plate in La Pampa

The [ANSV national lookup](https://consultainfracciones.seguridadvial.gob.ar/) shows the fines that participating authorities load into the national system, and the [La Pampa Government portal](https://www.lapampa.gob.ar/) gathers local procedures and rules. Checking every plate by hand on both sites is feasible with ten vehicles and stops being so with a hundred: the API automates the lookup across the integrated authorities and returns one result per source.

## What to watch if you run a fleet in La Pampa

A truck going from Buenos Aires to Patagonia crosses La Pampa without stopping, but passes urban stretches with speed cameras in Santa Rosa, General Acha and the towns along Routes 35 and 152; the local court serves the fine weeks later, when the driver has already made several more trips. Checking the plate at the close of each long trip, and not only in a monthly batch, lets you assign the fine to the right trip.

In summer the traffic towards the Atlantic coast and towards Neuquén multiplies the checks at roundabouts and entrances; a passenger transport company or a rent-a-car that checks the plate per source at the end of each service charges the fine to the right party and keeps fines from piling up until the technical inspection is renewed.

## Limits and considerations

-   Fines from the urban stretches are ruled on in the municipality of the checkpoint, which may be hundreds of kilometres from the vehicle’s base.
-   Fixed-unit amounts are converted at the value current at the source; the final amount is set by the authority at the time of payment.
-   A source that does not answer is reported as such, never as an absence of infractions.
-   The API neither pays fines nor handles defences; it delivers information to decide.
