# Traffic fines in La Matanza: authorities, deadlines and API lookups

How traffic fines work in La Matanza, from San Justo and Ramos Mejía to González Catán, and how a fleet queries them by plate with the API.

Jurisdiction

La Matanza (Buenos Aires) · [Buenos Aires](https://apinitro.com/en/articles/traffic-fines-buenos-aires-province/) · Argentina

La Matanza is the country’s most populous partido and a city in its own right: National Route 3 (Juan Manuel de Rosas avenue), Provincial Route 21, Camino de Cintura and the Riccheri motorway cross it from Ramos Mejía and San Justo to Laferrere and González Catán, with industrial parks, markets and a traffic of buses, trucks and deliveries that never stops. Municipal fines are issued by the partido on avenues and camera-equipped traffic lights; provincial ones coexist on the same plates.

## Context and authority

Amounts and deadlines follow the [National Traffic Law 24.449](https://www.argentina.gob.ar/normativa/nacional/ley-24449-818/texto) and Buenos Aires’s adhesion: fixed units, a two-year limitation for minor offences and five for serious ones, a defence before the authority that issued the fine. This article covers municipal fines; the provincial circuit is in the [Buenos Aires article](https://apinitro.com/en/articles/traffic-fines-buenos-aires-province/).

The municipal misdemeanour courts rule on fines issued within the partido: speeding and red lights on Route 3 and the camera avenues, lanes and manoeuvres at the approaches to the industrial parks and the Central Market, and parking in the centres of San Justo and Ramos Mejía. A defence is filed with the court within the period set by the notice; Riccheri motorway fines are not municipal.

## What the API returns for this jurisdiction

A plate lookup in La Matanza walks the La Matanza municipal misdemeanour courts together with the integrated provincial sources of Buenos Aires, and returns each fine with the authority that issued it:

- The authority that issued the fine and its number, unnormalised.
- The date and description of the infraction, with the location if the court reports it.
- The amount and status current at the source, with the payment conditions it publishes.
- The link to the payment slip when the authority offers one.
- Which sources answered and which did not, to tell a complete result from a partial one.

A result with no fines at the municipal court does not rule out provincial fines on the same plate; the response reports which sources were queried and which answered.

## How to check a plate in La Matanza

Manual verification starts at the [La Matanza municipal portal](https://www.lamatanza.gov.ar/), continues through the provincial circuit of the [Buenos Aires article](https://apinitro.com/en/articles/traffic-fines-buenos-aires-province/) and ends at the [ANSV national lookup](https://consultainfracciones.seguridadvial.gob.ar/). That round, repeated for every plate, is what the API replaces: one lookup per plate across the integrated sources, with the result per source so you know what was verified.

## What to watch if you run a fleet in La Matanza

A delivery fleet covering La Matanza travels twenty kilometres of camera avenues between Ramos Mejía and González Catán every day; fines pile up per plate and reach the owner weeks later. Looking up each plate at month end, with the per-source result stored, assigns each fine to the route’s driver and covers the defence in time.

For a passenger transport or logistics company using Route 3 and Camino de Cintura, the partido’s volume turns every lookup into a routine review: a fine discovered when renewing the technical inspection no longer allows a defence, and in La Matanza there are many.

## How to integrate

A lookup is a POST with the plate and, optionally, the jurisdictions to include; the initial response accepts the job and the result arrives by status lookup or webhook, because official sources answer in seconds or minutes. The [asynchronous APIs](https://apinitro.com/en/articles/asynchronous-api-retries-without-duplicate-work/) guide explains how to retry without duplicating work and the [API page](https://apinitro.com/en/apis/traffic-fines-argentina/) details access.

JSONIllustrative example, not a contract.

```json
{
  "plate": "ABC123",
  "jurisdictions": [
    "AR-B-la-matanza"
  ]
}
```

## Limits and considerations

- Fines on the Riccheri motorway and on Route 3 outside the municipal stretches may be provincial or national; the response names the authority of each.
- Fixed-unit amounts are converted at the value current at the source; the final amount is set by the authority at the time of payment.
- A source that does not answer is reported as such, never as an absence of infractions.
- The API neither pays fines nor handles defences; it delivers information to decide.
