# Traffic fines in General San Martín: authorities, deadlines and API lookups

How traffic fines work in the partido of General San Martín, between Villa Ballester, San Andrés and the industrial belt along the General Paz, and how a logistics fleet queries them by plate with the API.

Jurisdiction

General San Martín (Buenos Aires) · [Buenos Aires](https://apinitro.com/en/articles/traffic-fines-buenos-aires-province/) · Argentina

General San Martín is the industrial partido next to General Paz avenue: metalworking and textile shops and logistics warehouses in Villa Lynch, San Andrés and Villa Maipú, with Villa Ballester and downtown San Martín as commercial poles. Route 8 crosses it as an avenue, the Buen Ayre road connects it with the Western Access and the Panamericana, and the General Paz marks the boundary with Buenos Aires City, whose fines follow a different circuit. Traffic is made of trucks, vans and company pickups entering and leaving the City every day. Urban fines are issued by the partido; those on the routes depend on the province.

## Context and authority

The partido adheres to the [National Traffic Law 24.449](https://www.argentina.gob.ar/normativa/nacional/ley-24449-818/texto) through the provincial law: fines are expressed in fixed units and lapse after two years if minor and five if serious. Municipal fines are ruled on by the partido’s misdemeanour court; those issued by the province follow their own circuit, described in the [Buenos Aires article](https://apinitro.com/en/articles/traffic-fines-buenos-aires-province/).

The municipal misdemeanour court rules on fines issued within the partido: speeding and red lights on the urban stretch of Route 8, Márquez avenue and San Martín avenue, parking and loading in Villa Ballester and downtown, and document checks at municipal operations. A defence is filed with the court within the period set by the notice. Fines on the Buen Ayre road are provincial, and those on the General Paz belong to Buenos Aires City.

## What the API returns for this jurisdiction

In General San Martín the API queries InfraccionesBA, the provincial registry of the Buenos Aires Ministry of Transport together with the other integrated sources of Buenos Aires and returns each fine with the authority that issued it:

- Authority and fine number exactly as each court publishes them.
- Date, location when reported and description of the infraction.
- Amount, status and payment conditions published by that court.
- Downloadable payment slip when one exists.
- Coverage per source and partial-result flag.

The response splits the result by source and the partial-result flag shows whether any failed to answer; municipal fines in General San Martín have their own lookup channel, described below.

## How to check a plate in General San Martín

Manual verification starts at the [General San Martín Municipality portal](https://www.sanmartin.gob.ar/), continues through the provincial circuit of the [Buenos Aires article](https://apinitro.com/en/articles/traffic-fines-buenos-aires-province/) and ends at the [ANSV national lookup](https://consultainfracciones.seguridadvial.gob.ar/). That round, repeated for every plate, is what the API replaces: one lookup per plate across the integrated sources, with the result per source so you know what was verified.

## What to watch if you run a fleet in General San Martín

A logistics fleet with a warehouse in San Martín splits its day between the City, the Buen Ayre road and the Panamericana: fines are spread across three jurisdictions and reach the owner in batches, weeks later. Looking up each plate at month end, with the result stored per source, sorts out that mix and lets you assign each fine to the driver on shift.

For a trucking company that renews licences and technical inspections in batches, a forgotten provincial fine blocks the procedure for the whole unit; the plate lookup before each expiry finds it while a discount and a defence are still possible.

## How to integrate

The integration starts with one POST per plate, with the jurisdiction as an optional filter. Since courts answer at their own pace, the API accepts the job and delivers the result by status or webhook; store the idempotency key before sending, as the [asynchronous APIs](https://apinitro.com/en/articles/asynchronous-api-retries-without-duplicate-work/) guide describes. The [API page](https://apinitro.com/en/apis/traffic-fines-argentina/) details access.

JSONIllustrative example, not a contract.

```json
{
  "plate": "ABC123",
  "jurisdictions": [
    "AR-B"
  ]
}
```

## Limits and considerations

- Provincial fines on a plate originate on routes and motorways across the whole province, not only in the partido; the response names the authority and the location when the source reports it.
- Fixed-unit amounts are converted at the value current at the source; the final amount is set by the authority at the time of payment.
- A source that does not answer is reported as such, never as an absence of infractions.
- The API neither pays fines nor handles defences; it delivers information to decide.
