# Traffic fines in Aguascalientes: authorities, deadlines and API lookups

The state’s Secretaría de Seguridad Pública, with its road police, issues infractions on the ring road and on state highways, and the municipality of Aguascalientes issues its own on its streets; the Secretaría de Finanzas collects vehicle debts together with plate renewal. Clarifications are filed with the authority that recorded the infraction, within the period set by the notice.

To check a plate by hand, the [Aguascalientes State Government portal](https://www.aguascalientes.gob.mx/) is the entity’s official channel and the [REPUVE](https://www.gob.mx/sesnsp) confirms the vehicle’s identity before any procedure. With ten units that is enough; with a hundred, the API walks the integrated sources by plate and returns the result split by authority, with the folio and amount each one publishes.

## What to watch if you run a fleet in Aguascalientes

An automotive supplier’s fleet going from the industrial park to the assembly plant along the ring road crosses state and municipal checks several times a day; looking up each plate at month end, with the per-source result stored, assigns each infraction to the driver and avoids discovering them at plate renewal.

For a staff transport company with units registered in the state, pending debts block the renewal of the whole fleet in the same month; a plate lookup before the renewal period avoids rejections and uses the early-payment discounts.

## Limits and considerations

-   Infractions on federal highways belong to the federal authority, not the state or municipal ones; the response names the authority of each.
-   UMA amounts are updated every year; the final amount is set by the authority at the time of payment.
-   A source that does not answer is reported as such, never as an absence of infractions.
-   The API neither pays fines nor handles clarifications; it delivers information to decide.
