## Overview

The planned recalls API is intended to retrieve published recall campaigns from validated sources. Its purpose is to distinguish general campaign information from any vehicle-specific confirmation, without presenting a make or model match as proof that a particular vehicle is affected.

This product is in preparation. Supported makes, campaigns and search criteria will depend on approved sources. Neither a complete registry nor individual VIN checks are advertised until the source's capability has been validated.

## What to consider

-   A campaign associated with a model does not establish that every vehicle of that model is included.
-   VIN, chassis or other identifier-specific confirmation can only be offered when a validated source supports that lookup.
-   A published campaign does not show whether work has already been completed on a vehicle; intervention status requires separate verification.

Will the API identify an outstanding recall on a specific vehicle?

Only if a validated source publishes sufficient vehicle-specific information. A general campaign and an outstanding intervention for a particular vehicle are different observations.

Could I confirm that a repair has been completed?

That is not a general product promise. Intervention history may not be public and requires a specific scope confirmed with the relevant source.
